Yea. I don't really XANGA anymore. Mainly because I do not have time, and its pointless to post here when i have really ported everything to my site. Anything important will be on my personal site (probably under "PORTAL") located @ http://kc2lto.com So read the following random rants but find the better shit on my site (eventually)

Being at the hospital for 10 hours straight isn't all that bad! Neither is hospital food, although it could be a bit better. Not that I ate that stuff anyway but I did go to their cafeteria that had some nice food and plenty of vending machines! Especially when you have Steve the nurse there along side. This was nothing tragic anyway, being at the hospital, only the time that I needed to serve for EMT class.
So I decided to do my time with Goeller on Saturday since I know him and he is a nurse and all. First person we had to get out immediately was a drunk that was found by the cops lying on the side of the road. He kept making stupid comments and such [Alcohol level of .289] and Steve direly hates drunks. Hell I guess I would too. Well there were several patients coming in all day from the ambulance, some called in and most not. The one that Steve got was a pretty critical patient. He needed the most work and I also got to help the most here. For instance, I got to prime some IV lines, put on the electrodes for the heart monitor, and well other non-desirable types of things as well. This mainly involving seeing some of the tests that are done that can get you kinda nauseous. Catheters, and scat tests, YAY! What was good that I liked was going to the CT scan room and then to the MICU. In house field trips are awesome.

Now throughout the day and more toward the end, there was some downtime where I would stand around, maybe walk around the Emergency Room, and also just talk with the nurses or patients. This would be fine if the day before I had not worked out so much at school so that I would not have sore muscles all day. Oh well, the experience was well worth the discomfort, I suppose. Alzheimer's also seemed to be present in most of the patients. Probably because most of them were older than most. But one in Cardiac that Steve claims is nutty [I did not know that at the time] kept talking. Then later when I came back said who are you, Oh you came to visit again! Whatever. But if it is relevant she did mention that I would do great as an EMT and nurse because I have a “great personality.” I know some readers probably will not attest to that but suck it up[ cuz it is true. haha

The next few patients were not assigned to Steve but that does not mean that I need to be his shadow all day. So I go and find out about the next two cases. One involving a middle aged woman from a psych institute complaining of slight stomach discomfort. H mm, I wonder why! After eating Monopoly pieces I would expect that. Fortunately there were no metal cars, hats, or bunnies in her stomach [x-ray] but she did eat the hotels.

Next case was probably the most interesting of the day. This one was a call in about an attempted suicide. This 19 year old went uncontrollable and decided to hang himself. After the rope broke [because smart one could not rig the rope right] he was found and called in. This was slightly amusing in itself but also when he was talking about how hes going to sue the damn hospital for his stupidity. Mainly concerning how he needed to stay strapped to the backboard and that it was uncomfortable. A rope around your neck is not all that comfortable either, slick.

The day was awesome though. A little long, but if I were the nurse it would be much better since I would be more active. However what is crazy is that on almost every damn patient they test blood. That gets quite boring after awhile and tedious. The nurses were cool though, and their lounge was even better! How could one survive a 12 hour day without some fun, relaxation, and chit chat? Oh no, and this brings me to Steve again. Bragging about his damn new apartment now instead of his car. Well congrats though, at least you now can leave your crazy family. Just don't eat that many donuts next time or you may just need a larger apartment.

Some nurses on ExpressCare were joking about how one dude came in with some sort of STD. Syphilis. I don't quite remember but it was defiantly swollen or something and he was wondering if he should wipe the crust off his own dick himself. The nurse that came in to tell the desk nurse and PA said that he was pretty attractive and they don't know exactly how he ended up like this. Then comes the argument of who gets to wipe off his dick if they don't send him home to do it himself. That was pretty entertaining to say the least.

Finally, to end the day, Steve had no patients and it was getting boring just standing around and talking with other nurses. Also, it was quite warm in the ER so we take a walk outside. Guess what happens. This crazy lady comes up to us dressed in this huge, queer, parka stating that shes a really sick lady and has this this and this disease. Well she was sick for sure, up in the head, but anyway she was basically begging for a flu shot. Now mind you that because of the fuck up in England, there are no shots being distributed to the hospitals because there are not many shots at all. If the company monitored their product we would not have this problem. Well after we told her we have none and that she could try getting into some clinics in the area to get one she goes nuts and not only blames Bush for the problem [when its England's fault] but asks to be put on an “emergency list.” Now I don't know about you but what the fuck is an emergency list. Is is non existent. Go home lady and live in your house for the winter. Then you will not get sick. Take precautions like dressing warmly and always washing you hands. Why are people so stupid? Also if you are going to get a shot, I see no purpose in them at all unless you direly need one for a disease you have that effects you immune system or if you do not have a strong immune system due to age [children under 8 and elders over about 55]. Some strands of the flu virus are not even included in the vaccine so I don't know why people go crazy all the time. Whatever, people suck what can I say?

New old design after the revamp did not look good AT ALL. I think I will stick with this for awhile. I love EMT class, it is sooo great. Not only meeting some new people, learnign to save lives, and having the occasional fun, but also the other aspects. Hmm... What I mean is the few hot chicks [Joe, cmon man you are killing me!], proven fact that most EMTs are either or both stupid and unhealthy. Beside that, the class is so much more interesting than school can EVER be [and today's class was the same length from 8-4:30]. Good news too, I went to lunch, ate, and returned all in 22 minutes! I definatly have to work something out though, with something that I will decide at a later point...
